LUCKNOW, Feb. 15 -- The killing of history-sheeter Shoaib Qidwai alias Bobby has once again brought his criminal past into focus. This includes his alleged role in arranging a bulletproof ambulance for gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari. He was widely believed to be associated with Ansari's IS-191 gang and had been under law enforcement scrutiny for years. Bobby's name had surfaced in a high-profile case involving the registration of a luxury, bulletproof ambulance allegedly used to transport Ansari during his court appearances in Punjab. Ansari, who died of a heart attack on March 28, 2024, at Banda jail, had earlier been lodged in Ropar jail in Punjab. During a court hearing in Mohali, Punjab Police produced him in an ambulance bearing the Barabanki registration number. The vehicle later caused controversy when police found it abandoned near a roadside eatery around 15 km from Ropar jail in Rupnagar district. A subsequent inquiry uncovered serious discrepancies in its documentation. Officials said the papers submitted for registration included a letter purportedly issued by a Mau-based Shyam Sanjeevani Hospital and a voter identity card in the name of Dr Alka Rai. However, the registration documents and the address details were later found to be forged. At that time, allegations had emerged that Qidwai had facilitated the ambulance's registration in Barabanki. htc...
