Lucknow, Feb. 19 -- A case of alleged rape of a seven-year-old girl has been reported from the Sushant Golf City police station area on Wednesday. Police, who registered an FIR against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections, have arrested the man, identified as Mullu Verma, aged about 35 years and a resident of the Sainagar/Pawai area of Panna district in Madhya Pradesh, from Panna district of Madhya Pradesh late Wednesday night. He was brought to Lucknow and will be sent to jail on Thursday. According to police and the complaint, the victim's mother is originally from Madhya Pradesh and lives in Lucknow with her family, working as a labourer. Police said the victim's mother and maternal uncle informed UP 112 at around 10:30 am on Tuesday about the incident. A police team reached the spot, conducted a preliminary inquiry and initiated further action after receiving a written complaint. The child was sent for medical examination, and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was also called to inspect the crime scene.
