LUCKNOW, Feb. 13 -- The life and work of anthropologist and former Lucknow University professor Nadeem Hasnain were celebrated at a gathering held at the International Buddha Research Institute auditorium on Thursday on the occasion of his 75th birthday. Participants described him as a scholar, guide and friend. His wife Nikhat recalled their journey together. Indian People's Theatre Association's Rakesh shared his association with Hasnain through the Progressive Writers Association and their later collaborations. Former LU professor Prof Ramesh Dixit recalled his rational outlook and support for marginalised students. Former LU vice chancellor Prof Roop Rekha Verma described Hasan's joining Lucknow University as reassuring for her, especially at a time when she was often targeted for her ideology.
