Sambhal mosque dispute: HC stays trial court proceedings till Feb 25
PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 9 -- The Allahabad high court on Wednesday stayed further proceedings in a civil suit pending before the Sambhal civil court till February 25, 2025, where Hindu plaintiffs had sought a declaration of their right to access the Shri Hari Har Temple, allegedly located at Jama Masjid, Sambhal. The court also directed the state government, central government, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and the district magistrate of Sambhal to file their replies within two weeks.Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal, hearing the petition filed by the mosque's management committee, took note of the survey conducted by an advocate commissioner. The plea claimed that the suit was filed on November 19, 2024, and within hours, the civil court appointed a commissioner to conduct an initial survey at the mosque site.
