Samajwadi Party memo to LDAover JPNIC 'use'
LUCKNOW, Feb. 6 -- The Samajwadi Party (SP) has demanded that the Jayaprakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC) here should be completed and it should be used for cultural, literary and social activities.
Fakir Siddiqui, SP's Lucknow Mahangar unit chief, submitted a memorandum in this regard to Prathamesh Kumar, vice-chairman, Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), on Thursday. Maintaining the JPNIC's international standard has also been demanded. The memorandum says the foundation stone of the Jayaprakash Narayan International Centre as laid in 2012 during the then Akhilesh Yadav-led government.
The objective was to showcase the life philosophy of socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan and his role in the freedom struggle.
Around 80 percent construction work was completed by 2017, it added. "Now, information is being received that after 8 years, a parking lot will be built at the Jayaprakash Narayan International Centre complex in Lucknow. This will cause great damage to the centre and destroy its original purpose," the memorandum claims....
