Lucknow, March 3 -- The UP fisheries department has begun preparations to implement investment proposals worth Rs.1,407 crore from nearly 30 companies, director general of the department Dhanlakshmi K said. As per a government press statement, investment intentions worth Rs.1,200 crore were expressed by entrepreneurs during the state's first Meen Mahotsav held in Lucknow on February 27 and 28. Earlier, proposals worth Rs.207 crore were received at the Matsya Nivesh Shikhar Sammelan organised in mid-December last. "These proposals will generate employment for more than 2,000 youth and will soon be implemented on the ground," Dhanlakshmi K said, as quoted in the statement. The statement said several companies are set to invest in districts, including Varanasi, Barabanki and Amethi. Oro Sundaram Foods and Feeds Pvt Ltd will invest Rs.300 crore in Varanasi, while Probus Smart Things Pvt Ltd, Godrej Agrovet Ltd and Nexgen companies will invest Rs.200 crore each.
