Agra, Feb. 19 -- A row broke out on Wednesday over the placement of Thakur Banke Bihari Ji's idol at the Vrindavan temple. Acting on directions of a Supreme Court-appointed High Power Committee, the idol was shifted to 'Jagmohan' (a more open space) instead of the 'Garbh-grah' (sanctum sanctorum) for better crowd management and darshan. However, members of the Goswami sevayat community opposed the move, saying tradition requires the idol to remain in the sanctum and be brought out only on special occasions. Locks were briefly put on the sanctum amid the dispute. Later, following objections from priests and devotees, the locks were removed and the idol was returned to the sanctum, from where darshan resumed. As per tradition, the idol of Lord Krishna in child form is stationed in the 'Garbh-grah' and brought out to the 'Jagmohan' only on special occasions. htc...
