Reward raised to Rs.50,000 in kidnapping, murder case
PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 28 -- Ajay Kumar, inspector general of police, Prayagraj Range, has increased the reward on accused Satyam Mishra from Rs.25,000 to Rs.50,000 in a kidnapping and murder case of a young woman from Pratapgarh.
The woman was abducted on December 22 while speaking on the phone outside her house around 10pm under the Kotwali area. After a complaint was filed by her mother on February 8, police registered a case against village head's husband Sajjan Shukla of Tajuddinpur and Satyam Mishra of Nai Bazaar. During investigation, police arrested Sajjan Shukla and his associate Shravan Kumar alias Kaptan Shukla. They allegedly confessed to strangling woman and throwing her body into Ganga. The third accused, Satyam Mishra, remains on the run. Earlier, SP Deepak Bhukar had announced a reward of Rs.25,000 for information leading to Mishra's arrest. With no breakthrough, the reward has now been doubled to intensify efforts to nab him.
A 22-year-old student, Shahil Shukla, was found shot dead under suspicious circumstances on Friday in Chak Gaurishankar under Ghurpur police station area. Police reached the spot and recovered an illegal pistol lying near the body. After a forensic examination, the body was sent for post-mortem examination. Shahil, a resident of Gobra Tharhar under Lalapur police station limits, was staying with his uncle while pursuing vocational training at ITI in Naini. He lived in a room on the premises of a village English-medium school run by Laxmikant Tiwari.
On Friday morning, Shahil was at the school when he was shot in mysterious circumstances. Tiwari rushed to the spot after being alerted by staff and found him lying in a pool of blood with severe head injuries. A cartridge case was found jammed inside the pistol.
