Lucknow, Jan. 16 -- Nine drug peddlers arrested during raids carried out at 30 locations in the state capital last week revealed during interrogation that several villages in adjoining Barabanki district are the largest source of narcotics, including weed and hashish, here. "During the two-day drive, we first arrested six peddlers and then three more the next day after raiding at least 30 locations." "We also identified nearly 100 such suspected peddlers and we are identifying them to take similar action against them in the coming days with more raids," said joint commissioner of police (law & order) Babloo Kumar. "First, inputs were collected from the intelligence unit. Second, after identifying hotspots where narcotics were being sold, joint teams were formed to conduct raids at those locations at the most effective time. Third, the arrested suspects are being interrogated to trace their entire supply network," the JCP said.
