Rahul receives grandfather Feroze Gandhi's long-lost driving licence
RAE BARELI, Jan. 21 -- During his visit to his parliamentary constituency on Tuesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi received an emotional gift - the long-lost driving licence of his grandfather Feroze Gandhi.
The licence, preserved for decades by a local family, was handed over to Gandhi by Vikas Singh, a member of the organising committee of the Rae Bareli Premier League cricket tournament. It was given during Gandhi's visit to inaugurate a cricket tournament, said Pankaj Tiwari, district Congress president.
"When I handed over the licence made in London, Rahul ji immediately said 'Thank You'. He said it is a bond with people here that such moments happen," said Singh.
"During a programme in Rae Bareli several years ago, my father-in-law found the driving licence. He kept it safely and after his death, my mother-in-law continued to preserve it. When we learnt that Rahul Gandhi was visiting Rae Bareli, we felt it was our responsibility to hand it to him," added Singh....
