LUCKNOW, April 3 -- A school principal narrowly escaped serious injury after a youth allegedly opened fire at him inside a private school in Rahimabad area of Lucknow on Thursday afternoon, police said. The incident took place at Prabhavati Devi Shikshan Sansthan in Jugaurganj village. Principal Anil Kumar Singh was present on campus when the accused, identified as Vijaypal, arrived in a car and allegedly opened fire at him. According to police, the bullet first struck a nearby locker before grazing Singh's abdomen. Singh sustained minor injuries and was rushed to the Malihabad Community Health Centre before being referred to another facility for further treatment. The firing triggered panic on the school premises, with staff and students running for safety as the accused fled the spot immediately after the incident. Investigating officers said the motive behind the attack remains unclear. "There was no known dispute between the two. In fact, they were on good terms and used to spend time together regularly. They were together for nearly five hours just a day before the incident," said inspector Arun Trigunayak of Rahimabad police station.
