Principal detained after parents lay siege to Rampur dist school
Meerut, Feb. 18 -- Serious allegations have emerged from St Francis School in Khuntakheda area of Rampur district, where the school principal has been accused of committing obscene acts with young students. The incident came to light when several parents arrived at the school with their children and confronted the principal, expressing anger and demanding answers.
According to Vidyasagar Mishra, superintendent of police, the principal, Arisheril Joseph, has been detained on Tuesday morning after questioning him on Monday night, and a formal case has been registered against him.
The FIR was registered under BNS section 74, 115(2), 351(2) and section 9f and 10 of the Pocso Act. Authorities are examining CCTV footage from the school premises as part of the investigation.
Residents of Khuntakheda, which falls under the jurisdiction of Bhot police station, informed officials that the school has been operating in the village for nearly a decade and runs classes from Nursery to Class 9.
On Monday morning, parents from several nearby villages reached the school and questioned the principal, accusing him of inappropriate conduct with children. Police also arrived at the scene after receiving information about the confrontation.
Among those accompanying the parents were Block chief Sardar Kulwant Aulakh and former village head Jogendra Singh, who demanded a thorough probe and strict action against the accused. In their complaint, parents alleged that several children from KG to Class 6 were subjected to obscene acts by the principal. Meanwhile, a senior member of the school management stated that Joseph denied the accusations when questioned.
