PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 22 -- : A fresh fleet of 27 electric buses-known for being both noise free and non polluting-will soon join the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) fleet in Sangam City. Prayagraj has been allotted a total of 33 electric buses, of which six have already arrived. The remaining 27 are expected in the next phase. To support the new vehicles, a dedicated charging station is being set up at the Leader Road depot in Rajapur. Five high speed charging machines will be installed in the first half of this year, after which bus operations are expected to begin from the depot. The new chargers promise significantly faster turnaround times, and each fully charged bus will be capable of travelling around 225 km. The soon to arrive buses will operate on intercity routes, including Varanasi, Ayodhya, Lucknow, and Kanpur. At present, 50 electric buses are already operating within Prayagraj city limits, with charging facilities in Naini. Regional manager, UPSRTC Prayagraj division, RK Singh confirmed that all 33 allocated e buses will be received shortly. He added that the fare structure for these electric buses will remain the same as the existing 3x2 and 2x2 AC services. Proposed fares include Rs 357 and Rs 416 for Lucknow, Rs 318 and Rs 373 for Ayodhya, and Rs 227 and Rs 263 for Varanasi....
