Pratapgarh municipal clerk arrested while accepting bribe
PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 10 -- The anti-corruption unit of Prayagraj arrested a clerk of Pratapgarh Municipality red-handed on Friday while he was accepting a bribe of Rs.87,500 from a contractor. The bribe was allegedly demanded for completing the paperwork related to a project awarded to the contractor's firm. During questioning, the accused revealed that the executive officer of Dhakwa Nagar Panchayat had also demanded a bribe.
The anti-corruption team has registered a named FIR against executive officer Abhinav Yadav and clerk Prashant Singh at Kotwali police station. Clerk Prashant Singh has been handed over to the police for further action.
As per reports, the complaint was filed by a contractor Praveen Rampal, a native of Unj in Bhadohi district and currently residing in Jhunsi, Prayagraj, on January 6....
