Police arrest 5th accused in firing outside Rohit Shetty's home

he firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Mumbai residence on Sunday, which triggered heightened security and a police investigation amid fears of an extortion-linked threat, has taken a new turn with another arrest by the Mumbai Crime Branch.
After earlier arresting four accused in the case, the Crime Branch has now detained another suspect from Pune. According to The Statesman, the arrest was carried out by the Anti-Extortion Cell. The newly arrested accused has been identified as Asharam Fasle and is alleged to have supplied the firearm used in the firing. Police officials said multiple teams have been dispatched across the country to trace another suspect who is currently absconding.
The incident, in which shots were fired outside Shetty's home without causing any injuries, was initially treated as a security breach. However, the case escalated after an online post surfaced claiming responsibility and issuing explicit threats against the filmmaker and the Hindi film industry.
Mumbai Police have linked the case to Shubham Lonkar, described as a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Following the firing, a social media post written in Hindi claimed responsibility for the attack and issued a direct threat against Shetty.
