Physiotherapy student's body foundhanging from tree, family cries foul
MEERUT, Jan. 25 -- The body of a 21-year-old physiotherapy student, who had been missing for two days, was found hanging from a tree in a forest area of Deoband town in Saharanpur on Saturday, with her family raising questions over the circumstances, police said. A detailed probe has been launched to examine both suicide and murder angles, they added.
As per reports, the deceased, a resident of Bibipur village in Saharanpur, was pursuing a physiotherapy course at a private college in Muzaffarnagar and also worked at a private clinic in the district.
According to police, the body was spotted on Saturday afternoon by people working in nearby fields.
A police team, accompanied by forensic experts and a dog squad, rushed to the spot. The body was brought down and sent for the post-mortem examination.
Family members said she used to travel nearly eight kilometres daily from her home to the clinic and would return in the evening. On January 22, she left home for work but did not return late into the night. When contacted, the clinic staff told the family that she had already left for home. The family tried searching for her, but in vain. They then lodged a missing person complaint at the Deoband police station on Friday evening.
Following the recovery of the body on Saturday, the family members created a ruckus when the police reached there. The police later managed to pacify the relatives.
Circle officer Abhitesh Singh said that prima facie the case appeared to be a suicide, but all aspects were being thoroughly investigated.
"We are linking events from the time she went missing till the recovery of her body. Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report," he said....
