LUCKNOW, Feb. 15 -- More than 12,300 candidates have taken part so far in the Agniveer General Duty (GD) recruitment rally under the Indian Army in Lucknow, with 758 aspirants appearing for physical tests on the ninth day at the AMC Stadium in Lucknow Cantonment on Saturday. The rally, organised by the Army Recruiting Office (ARO) Lucknow, is likely to conclude on February 16. Saturday's recruitment drive was conducted for candidates from Gonda and Banda districts of Uttar Pradesh. A total of 1,022 candidates had been shortlisted for the physical tests after qualifying the online entrance examination, of whom 758 reported at the venue. Candidates underwent a series of assessments Army officials said those who clear the physical tests will undergo document verification before being sent to their respective training centres. Major General Manish Kumar, zonal recruiting officer (ZRO) for Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, said the Lucknow rally falls under ZRO UP and Uttarakhand, one of the country's largest recruiting zones in terms of eligible male population. "The recruitable male population under this ZRO is approximately 90-95 lakh, which is nearly 18% of the country's total recruitable population. Therefore, participation here is high. This time, around 12,300 candidates have taken part in the rally, and by Saturday, more than 8,000 candidates had completed their tests," he said.
