Opposition flays governor's address
LUCKNOW, Feb. 10 -- Opposition parties criticised governor Anandiben Patel's address on the inaugural day of the Uttar Pradesh legislature's Budget session on Monday. Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati claimed it lacked details regarding incomplete promises made by the BJP government, while the Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav termed it a 'festival of false praises' for the government.
"The budget session began today with the customary address by the Honourable Governor to the joint session of the legislature. However, it would have been better had her speech deviated from tradition and been more realistic and enthusiastic, focusing on the state's development and the upliftment of all sections of society, as well as broader public interest," Mayawati wrote on X.
SP chief said, "The Governor's address appears more like a celebration of false praises for a government steeped in corruption. The public will not be fooled by the illusion of progress created on paper. The BJP government has only worked to betray the trust of the people of state and damage communal harmony."
