Old feud sparks arson attack; gardener's hut torched
PRAYAGRAJ, April 30 -- An old feud allegedly took a violent turn on Tuesday night when a group of miscreants set fire to a gardener's hut in Chandupur Amrayan village under Sarai Akil police station limits in Kaushambi, destroying cash and household belongings worth thousands of rupees. The miscreants also allegedly assaulted the victim's sons, who tried to intervene, then fled the spot after issuing death threats.
According to the complaint, Chunne Ahmed, a resident of Jalalpur Jawaharganj, has been cultivating a mango and guava orchard in Chandupur Amrayan village for the past ten years. He lives in a hut inside the orchard with his family while tending the farm.
On Tuesday evening, Ahmed and his wife had gone to attend a feast, leaving their two sons, Mohd Faiz and Mohd Kaish, at the hut. Around midnight, four youths-two from the village along with two associates-allegedly arrived at the spot, hurled abuses, and set the hut on fire.
"When my sons tried to resist, they were allegedly beaten up with kicks and punches," Ahmed said in his complaint. The fire destroyed Rs 10,000 in cash, ten sacks of wheat, a fan, plastic crates, clothes, and other household items. On Wednesday morning, Ahmed approached the Sarai Akil police station and submitted a written complaint, naming the four accused.
Inspector Sher Singh Verma said the police have received the complaint and are investigating the matter....
