LUCKNOW, May 8 -- In the heart of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, the JNT Group has emerged as a beacon for young cricketers, organizing vibrant under-12 tournaments for over two decades. Founded by local industrialist and cricket enthusiast Jagat Narain Tiwari, the group-known for its manufacturing ventures in textiles and engineering-has seamlessly blended corporate social responsibility with a passion for the gentleman's game. What began as a modest neighborhood event in the early 2000s has evolved into one of Kanpur's most anticipated youth cricket festivals, drawing hundreds of aspiring players from across the region. The JNT Kids Cricket Tournament, held annually at the group's well-maintained grounds in Kalyanpur, emphasizes skill-building over cutthroat competition. Spanning 10-15 days each summer, it features league-stage matches followed by knockouts, with categories divided by age and skill levels. Over 500 boys participate yearly, hailing from Kanpur Dehat, Unnao, and even other parts of the state. Prizes include trophies, kits, and scholarships, but the real reward lies in the exposure: scouts from district academies and IPL franchises often attend, spotting raw talent like last year's standout bowler, Aryan Sharma, now training with the UP Under-19 squad. JNT's commitment shines through its infrastructure investments-a floodlit turf wicket, practice nets, and coaching clinics led by retired Ranji players. "Cricket teaches discipline, teamwork, and resilience-values we instill from age 8," says tournament director Ayush Tiwari, Jitendra's son. Beyond the pitches, JNT fosters community: free summer camps, nutrition workshops, and player welfare funds support underprivileged kids. Amid IPL glamour, this tournament reminds us of cricket's roots-local heroes rising from dusty maidans. As Kanpur eyes its next big break in domestic cricket, JNT's legacy endures, turning schoolboys into tomorrow's stars. With the 2026 edition slated from May 17, expect another chapter in this heartwarming saga. Ahmed Ali Khan alias Talib, director of JNT group says that the event has got a big attraction in the state and happens to be the biggest platform for the young cricketsrs. "This time we have 12 teams, comprising players from all parts of the state and we hope to see another year of success," said Talib, who also happens to be a founder member of the JNT Group....
