NIA takes over raj ammonium nitrate probe
Jaipur, Feb. 8 -- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe into the recovery of over 9,500kg of ammonium nitrate and detonators in Nagaur district of Rajasthan ahead of Republic Day, officials aware of the details said on Saturday.
The central agency took over the probe into the case on Friday, said Nagaur SP Mridul Kacchwa. "The agency arrived in Nagaur on January 27 to interrogate the prime accused, from whose premises the explosives were seized. As per a direction by the ministry of home affairs, the NIA on Friday took over the case given the seriousness of the matter. They will now thoroughly probe it," he said.
On January 25, police recovered 9,550kg ammonium nitrate in 187 carton boxes, nine carton detonators and bundles of wick wire from Suleman Khan's residence (58) in Thanvla area. htc...
