Nephew held for killing aunt during robbery bid in Rae Bareli
Lucknow, Jan. 17 -- A 40-year-old woman was stabbed to death inside her house in Rae Bareli on Friday after she resisted a robbery allegedly carried out by her nephew and two others, police said. The incident took place around 1 pm in the Bastipur area under the city Kotwali police station limits. The victim, Swapnil Tiwari, was alone at home at the time.
Police said the main accused, Vaibhav Tiwari ,26, the woman's nephew, came to the house on a motorcycle with two accomplices around 12.30 pm. Believing her husband had returned early, Swapnil opened the door and allowed them inside.
The accused allegedly broke open an almirah and began taking cash and jewellery. When Swapnil returned to the room and raised an alarm, Vaibhav allegedly attacked her with a knife. She died on the spot after being stabbed several times. Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed to the house. Vaibhav was caught while trying to flee and was handed over to the police. His two accomplices escaped by jumping from the terrace and are still absconding.
Swapnil's husband, Abhinav Tiwari, a primary school teacher, had gone to work in the morning. Police found the almirah lock broken and household items scattered. Police have registered a murder case are tracing two accused. htc...
