Munawwar Rana's daughter alleges triple talaq, dowry harassment
Lucknow, Feb. 4 -- Hiba Rana, 31, daughter of renowned Urdu poet Munawwar Rana, has accused her husband and father-in-law of dowry harassment, physical assault and pronouncing triple talaq.
A first information report (FIR) was registered on Monday at the Saadatganj police station of Lucknow, police said on Tuesday.
In her complaint, Hiba Rana stated that she had been married to Syed Mohammad Saqib, son of Syed Haseeb Ahmed, since December 19, 2013.
The accused are residents of Sakiriye House in the Karim Ganj area. The couple has two children.
Station house officer Saadatganj police station Santosh Kr Arya said the FIR has been registered against Syed Mohammad Saqib and his father Syed Haseeb Ahmed under Sections 85, 115(2), 351(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, and Sections 3 and 4 of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019....
