Mrt content creator booked for raping, harassing colleague
Meerut, Feb. 7 -- A social media content creator from Meerut was on Friday booked in a police case after a colleague of his accused him of rape, physical and mental harassment and exploitation under the guise of making videos.
The woman also alleged that Shadab Jakati kept her captive for nearly a year, forced her to perform household chores, and repeatedly threatened to kill her and her family whenever she protested. She claimed the prolonged harassment had pushed her to the brink of suicide.
Jakati was charged under BNS sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 74(criminal force against a woman to outrage her modesty), 64 (rape), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation).
According to the woman, she first approached the Incholi police station two days ago, but the sub-inspector on duty allegedly dismissed her complaint and drove her away.
On Friday morning, she approached the senior superintendent of police (SSP) and narrated her ordeal. Following the SSP's intervention and reprimand to the local police, an FIR was registered at Incholi police station. After the case was registered, Jakati posted a video on X denying the allegations. Meanwhile, the complainant alleged that after the case came to light, her landlord asked her to vacate her rented accommodation.
The woman stated that she came into contact with Jakati in February last year. Later, Jakati allegedly persuaded her to work with him and began featuring her in his videos. According to the complainant, the harassment escalated on January 15 when Jakati's wife, Sajia, allegedly abused her physically and verbally.
