Jaipur, Feb. 25 -- The body of a 24-year-old student preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in Kota was recovered from a canal in Baran district, six days after he went missing, police said on Tuesday, adding that prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide.
Inspector Anil Taylor of Borkhera police station said the student was last seen leaving his hostel around 3.30 pm on February 17 but did not return. "The hostel staff lodged a missing person report the next day. On Saturday, his watch, socks, shoes and mobile phone were recovered from near a canal, following which an SDRF team began searching the canal," Taylor said.
On Monday, the SDRF team recovered his body from a canal near NDPC factory area in Anta town, around 50 km from the spot where his belongings were found.
"Locals had spotted the body stuck against a tree in the canal and alerted the police. The SDRF team reached the spot and retrieved the body," Taylor said. The body was brought to Kota, where his parents identified it.
"It has been sent for postmortem and will be handed over to the family," Taylor added.
The student was a native of Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh and was preparing for NEET at a coaching institute in Kota for the past six years, police said....
