Minority community's role in nation-building pivotal: Cong leader
LUCKNOW, May 4 -- Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee on Sunday organised a daylong minority community conference here. Speaking at the conference, Avinash Pande, party national general secretary and UP in charge, said minority community has played a pivotal role in nation- building.
He alleged that the BJP government perpetrates atrocities against the minority community.
Sohil Akhtar Ansari, the newly appointed chairman of UP Congress's minority department, also took charge during the conference.
Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai, who is hospitalised due to illness, addressed the gathering via video conference.
"Congress is gaining support from people in Uttar Pradesh each passing day and the minority community's trust has been with the party. The 2027 elections will help uproot the BJP from Uttar Pradesh," Rai claimed.
"We must now decide what kind of India we wish to see. During the struggle for independence, our Hindu and Muslim brethren stood shoulder to shoulder, fighting the battle for freedom, making sacrifices and laying down their lives for the cause," Avinash Pandey said.
Imran Pratapgarhi, Rajya Sabha MP and chairman of AICC's minority department, claimed that the public is ready to bring about the end of the BJP government.
The conference was attended by senior Congress leaders, including Delhi Congress in-charge Qazi Nizamuddin, CLP leader in Bihar legislative assembly Shakeel Ahmad and Barabanki MP Tanuj Punia.
Prominent social figures from the minority community and Congress workers from across the state were also there....
