LUCKNOW, March 15 -- An MBBS student travelling from Varanasi to Ahmedabad on the Sabarmati Express has alleged that a co-passenger attempted to rape her inside the AC first class coach, railway police said. According to officials, the incident came to light after the student's mother raised the issue on social media platform X and sought help from railway authorities. In her post, she alleged that a co-passenger identified as Amit Singh Yadav tried to assault her daughter near Malhaur Railway Station. The woman alleged the accused first offered the student water allegedly laced with narcotics and pizza, and began molesting her when she refused. The victim informed the TTE during the journey. On reaching Lucknow late Friday night, GRP detained the accused after the complaint surfaced on social media. As no written complaint was filed, he was challaned for breach of peace.
