LUCKNOW, March 24 -- The much-delayed Shakti Upvan project of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has come under renewed focus, with mayor Sushma Kharkwal on Monday directing officials to expedite work and ensure timely completion without compromising on quality. The mayor inspected the project site along the Kukrail embankment, accompanied by municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar, and reviewed the pace and quality of ongoing construction. Taking note of the slow pace, Kharkwal asked officials to fix responsibility and ensure strict monitoring. She emphasised that the civic body must deliver projects on time, especially those aimed at improving public spaces and environment in the city. She reiterated that the goal is to provide residents with a clean, accessible recreational space. Officials said that Shakti Upvan is being developed over 3.6 hectares and will feature a long walking track and designated exercise areas. The park is also being designed as a family-friendly destination, with provisions for picnics and leisure activities. The project will include swings, an open gym, fountains, and a Nakshatra Vatika. Authorities are also developing a Miyawaki forest within the park to enhance green cover and promote urban biodiversity.
