Mayor Kharkwal warns of action against negligent contractors
LUCKNOW, Feb. 10 -- Mayor Sushma Kharkwal on Monday instructed Lucknow Municipal Corporation's (LMC's) engineering wing to expedite several ongoing development works that were marred by slow progress and poor execution.
At a high-level meeting here, mayor Kharkwal reviewed the progress, quality, and execution of ongoing civic works across the city. Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar, chief engineer (Civil) Mahesh Verma, and all executive, assistant, and junior engineers were in attendance.
Expressing dissatisfaction over slow progress in several projects, she directed officials to issue final warning notices to defaulting contractors.
Kharkwal stated that contractors who fail to improve performance even after warnings will be blacklisted, and fresh tenders will be floated. She reiterated that transparency, accountability, and quality in civic works will remain non-negotiable for the municipal corporation. The mayor also reviewed works under various development schemes, including the Ward Development Fund, 15th Finance Commission, Infrastructure Fund, CM Global City Development Scheme, CM Grid, and CM City Creation Scheme....
