LUCKNOW, Feb. 14 -- For creation of community facilities on vacant civic land and prevent encroachments, Lucknow mayor Sushma Kharkwal has directed officials to prepare a concrete development plan for Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) plots in Hariharpur village and Ansal Khevali under zone 8, an LMC press release said on Friday. The mayor inspected the sites along with municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar besides additional municipal commissioners Pankaj Srivastava and Arvind Kumar Rao. She said the vacant land should not remain unused and vulnerable to illegal occupation. Kharkwal asked officials to prioritise development of community-oriented infrastructure such as community centres, public parking spaces and other essential civic amenities based on local needs. She directed departments to prepare a feasibility report identifying which plots can be developed immediately for public use. During the inspection, she reviewed ownership records, current ground conditions and demarcation status of the land parcels. She instructed officials to carry out immediate demarcation and install fencing or boundary walls to secure the properties before initiating development work. "We must ensure that municipal corporation land benefits residents directly," the mayor said, calling for time-bound action.
