Man's eye gouged out in brutal assault over village rivalry
PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 24 -- A man was brutally assaulted and allegedly had his right eye gouged out by neighbours amid an ongoing rivalry in Sikandarpur Bajaha village under the Sandipan Ghat police station limits in Kaushambi.
The attackers reportedly used a screwdriver in the assault. Police have registered a case based on the victim's complaint and launched a search for the accused. According to reports, Sanjay Kumar Saroj, a resident of Sikandarpur Bajaha, had been involved in a long-standing dispute with his neighbours, who allegedly abused him frequently and threatened him whenever he objected.
He said the situation escalated on February 21, when the accused once again began hurling abuses at him.
When Sanjay objected, the accused allegedly dragged him to a deserted spot, assaulted him brutally, and gouged out his right eye with a screwdriver. He claimed they intended to kill him and that he survived only after villagers rushed to the scene on hearing his screams.
Saroj was taken for medical treatment and later filed a formal complaint at the police station.
DSP (Chail) Abhishek Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused - Pankaj, his brother Ramesh, and their associates Pranjal and Munnu. He said the investigating officer has been directed to carry out a fair probe and ensure strict action against those found guilty....
