LUCKNOW, Feb. 23 -- A 23-year-old man posing as an advocate was arrested from the district court premises in the Wazirganj police station area on Saturday evening after he had a scuffle with lawyers who questioned his credentials, police said on Sunday. "The accused, identified as Gufran, a resident of Topkhana Bazaar under Cantt police station limits, was dressed in full advocate's attire and was present on the third floor of the civil court premises to plead in connection with an FIR registered at Hazratganj police station," said Rajesh Kumar Tripathi, SHO, Wazirganj. According to officials, members of the bar grew suspicious after noticing that the man was unfamiliar in the court. "When they asked him to produce his identity card and enrolment details, he allegedly failed to furnish any valid documents. The situation escalated when the accused reportedly began arguing with the lawyers, allegedly assaulted some of them and issued threats," the SHO added. The advocates overpowered him and informed the police. He was later handed over to Wazirganj police station. On the advocates' complaint, police registered a non-cognizable report (NCR) under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for assault. The accused was formally arrested around 8.30 pm from the court premises. htc...
