Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 28 -- A man has been arrested in Kerala's Kozhikode district for allegedly killing his girlfriend after convincing her that they would end their lives together, police said on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Vaisakhan, is reported to have called his girlfriend over to his workshop in Kakkodi neighbourhood on January 24 where they had decided to end their lives together. The couple were reportedly in a relationship for years and the woman was pressuring him to get married, said an officer aware of the matter. "After reaching the workshop, Vaisakhan killed his girlfriend. The woman was found hanging inside the workshop by locals on the same day," the officer added. Though police initially presumed it was a suicide, Vaisakhan's role became clear in the course of the investigation and interrogation of family members of the woman. An officer said that Pocso charges have been invoked as the accused sexually assaulted the woman when she was a minor. The accused is also a married.
