LUCKNOW, Jan. 11 -- A 35-year-old man who allegedly staged his own kidnapping after accumulating a debt of nearly Rs.40 lakh from online lenders was found in Bareilly 72 hours later, police here said on Saturday. He reportedly lost the entire sum in online gaming. According to assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Krishna Nagar Rajneesh Verma, one Sunil Kumar of Para Road lodged a missing complaint on January 6 stating that his brother Rajnish Kumar had gone missing. Rajnish's was located in Bareilly on January 10. He was later handed over to his family, said police. "During questioning, Rajnish said he works as an office assistant in the electricity department and had been addicted to several online gaming apps. He allegedly took loans worth around Rs.40 lakh through multiple online lenders," the ACP added.
