Man accused of cattle slaughter held in police encounter
PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 20 -- A man wanted for the theft and slaughter of three cattle in Barsanda village of Pratapgarh was injured in a police encounter on Monday morning. Naushad Qureshi, 41, from Mauaima in Prayagraj was admitted to the local medical college as he was shot in the leg. Following his interrogation, police have intensified their search for the remaining suspects. According to reports, three cattle belonging to Virendra Pratap Singh of Barsanda were stolen late on Friday night. All animals belonged to a breed whose slaughter is prohibited. They were allegedly killed in a forest area near the Bakulahi river, close to the village.
