Kolkata, April 3 -- Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee demanded the resignation of Union home minister Amit Shah a day after seven judicial officers were held hostage for hours by a few thousand protestors in West Bengal's Malda district over deletion of names in the ongoing SIR. She also slammed the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleging that while it was part of the BJP's gameplan to impose President's Rule in the state by stalling the elections, the ECI failed to control the situation despite taking over the reins of the state's law-and-order after elections were announced. "It was entirely done by Amit Shah. The entire conspiracy was done by Amit Shah, using the ECI. He has to resign. I am demanding the resignation of the Union home minister," she said while addressing an election rally in Murshidabad's Sagardighi. "The EC has failed completely to maintain law-and-order. It (Malda incident) wasn't my fault. The administration is not in my hands anymore. It is the fault of the EC. They transferred the officers of their choice but failed to give protection to the judicial officers. I condemn them," she said.P4...
