Mahana orders probe into fake signatures of MLAs
LUCKNOW, Feb. 20 -- UP assembly speaker Satish Mahana on Thursday ordered a probe into the fake signatures of two MLAs on the application under Rule 51 (calling attention to matters of urgent public importance).
"Fake signatures of Pankaj Gupta (BJP MLA from Unnao Assembly seat) and Durga Prasad Yadav (SP MLA from Azamgarh Assembly seat) have been detected in the application for the notice under Rule - 51," Mahana said.
"It is a serious matter associated with the working of the legislative assembly. Both the lawmakers should be asked about the fake signature on their application and as to who has submitted their application," he added. Mahana directed Pradeep Dubey, principal secretary, UP legislative assembly, to probe the matter. "Action under relevant sections of the criminal procedure code (CrPC) will be taken against the persons who forged the signature of the MLAs," he said.
An eleven member committee will be constituted to give suggestions on the Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development (MLALAD) scheme.
Assembly speaker Satish Mahana on Thursday said, "An eleven member committee consisting of the lawmakers of legislative council has been constituted under the chairmanship of deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. Another committee consisting of the lawmakers of the legislative assembly will be constituted to give suggestions on MLALAD."
Recently, lawmakers gave various suggestions on MLALAD, including an increase in the medical fund. The suggestions of the committee will be in public interest. The suggestions of the committee will not be mandatory for the state government....
