Lucknow Metro to launch QR code-based ticketing facility
LUCKNOW, Feb. 16 -- In a major step towards modernising its ticketing system, Lucknow Metro will launch a QR code-based ticketing facility on Monday, enabling passengers to travel using digital and paper QR tickets.
The new system has been introduced to make ticketing simpler, faster and more convenient for commuters.
With the rollout, passengers will be able to book QR tickets from the comfort of their homes through the official Lucknow Metro mobile application.
QR tickets will also be available at ticket counters and newly installed Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) across metro stations.
Metro authorities have ensured that each station will have at least one QR-enabled ticket vending machine and one QR-enabled ticket counter.
Passengers travelling with QR tickets must scan their code at Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates marked with yellow stickers. Scanning will be mandatory both at the time of entry and exit to complete the journey.
To facilitate seamless adoption, special QR support stickers will be placed on the machines that issue QR tickets, allowing commuters to easily identify the correct counters or vending machines.
UPMRC managing director Sushil Kumar said that the newly installed QR-enabled ticket vending machines will support UPI payments, promoting cashless and secure transactions.
Other ticket vending machines will continue to provide token-based tickets as before.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at reducing queues, saving time and enhancing passenger convenience while encouraging digital payments....
