LUCKNOW, Feb. 20 -- The maiden edition of the Lucknow Premier League (LPL), scheduled to be played this March, is all set to see the participation of 3-5 outsiders in a team as the organizers have requested the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association for the same. It is learnt that UPCA in its latest directives has allowed all the district league organizers to select only two outsiders in a team as it wants the local league to give local players a chance to showcase their skills on a bigger stage. However, the LPL committee has reportedly requested the UPCA to allow them to pick minimum three and maximum five outsiders in a team. "If permission is granted, each franchise will have three or five outsiders in the team. Only two outsiders will be allowed to play in a match, if we get sanctioned for three players, and if it is five then each team will field three outsiders in a match," said a LPL insider on condition of anonymity. Meanwhile, on Thursday, as many as 58 cricketers were selected in the league's supplementary auction. With this, franchises have purchased a total of 102 players so far. Apart from these, franchises may still add local and promising talents to their squads. Each franchise is expected to have a squad of 22 players. All-rounder Samyak Trivedi from Kalpana Club emerged as the most expensive player, sold for Rs 1.25 lakh to the Lucknow Aces. Left-arm spinner Aditya Kumar Singh of Yorker Club was bought for Rs 1.15 lakh, while Akhil Infra's batter Ajit Verma was sold for Rs 1.10 lakh. Aditya Kumar Singh, a product of Sports College Lucknow and a former Junior India player, was bought by the Lucknow Strikers for Rs.1.15 lakh. Additionally, Lucknow Strikers also signed Ajit Verma for Rs 1.10 lakh....
