LUCKNOW, April 24 -- Lucknow went on the boil, recording the hottest day of the season so far, with the mercury rising to 42.2deg C. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.3deg C. The forecast for the state capital is a clear sky. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 43 and 26deg C, respectively. Nights across the state have gotten unusually warm with the strong afternoon winds disappearing, pushing up maximum temperatures. Fatehgarh recorded a minimum temperature of 28deg C which is 7.1 degrees above normal. "Subsequently, under the influence of a Western Disturbance, a spell of isolated rainfall is expected to commence in Western UP on April 26," said Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at Lucknow Met office. This precipitation is likely to spread eastward and persist. Consequently, owing to a projected drop in temperatures of 2-3degC, partial relief in prevailing heatwave conditions is anticipated after April 26, he said.
