LUCKNOW, Feb. 5 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has sought registration of an FIR against cattle owners after a cow allegedly attacked a young girl in the Chauptiyan area. The incident occurred near a garbage dumping site under the Sahadatganj police station limits. A video of the incident surfaced on social media and went viral on Tuesday, following which the Lucknow Municipal Commission took cognisance of the matter. The LMC submitted a formal complaint to the police, demanding legal action against cattle owners for allegedly leaving their animals unattended in public spaces. Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar directed the animal welfare department to carry out an on-site inspection and launch an enforcement drive. During the operation, five cows and a calf were captured from the area and shifted to the Aishbagh Kanji House for care. A show-cause notice has also been issued to the zonal animal welfare officer, seeking an explanation over the incident and the alleged lack of action by the department.
