LMC proposes budget of Rs 4,692.71 cr for 2026-27
LUCKNOW, Feb. 21 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation will table a budget of around Rs 4,692.71 crore for the financial year 2026-27 in the Special House scheduled to be held on Saturday, aligning its projected income with expenditure while prioritising essential civic services and infrastructure growth.
The civic body expects to generate around Rs 2,278.35 crore from taxes and other regular revenue sources and has earmarked around Rs 981 crore for development works. It will also utilise around Rs 1,399.36 crore carried forward from the previous financial year. On the expenditure side, the corporation has allocated around Rs 2,277.93 crore for routine expenses such as salaries, maintenance and delivery of civic services, and Rs.981 crore for development and infrastructure projects across the city, said an LMC official privy to the documents on Friday.
The proposed budget will focus on key aspects including strengthening streetlight infrastructure, improving sanitation systems and accelerating infrastructure projects. Officials have planned measures to enhance lighting arrangements in residential and commercial areas, streamline waste management and sanitation services, and undertake construction and repair of roads and drainage networks. The civic body also plans to invest in projects aimed at improving urban mobility and upgrading basic amenities.
The corporation will present the budget in the Special House scheduled to be held on Saturday at 11 am, after which the Executive Committee will deliberate on the proposals. Mayor Sushma Kharkwal on Friday reviewed the preparations during a meeting at her camp office on Friday. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar and senior officials participated in the discussions.
