LMC launches crackdown on property tax defaulters across Lko
LUCKNOW, Jan. 17 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) on Friday intensified action against major property tax defaulters across several parts of the city, sealing multiple residential and commercial buildings, initiating attachment proceedings, and freezing bank accounts to recover long-pending dues.
The enforcement drive targeted chronic defaulters who failed to clear arrears despite repeated notices. Officials said the action aimed to ensure timely tax recovery and strengthen municipal revenue.
In the central part of the city, LMC issued a sealing notice to a prominent commercial property located on Mahatma Gandhi Marg after house tax arrears surfaced. Following the notice, the property management immediately cleared dues amounting to over Rs 21 lakh through a demand draft, leading officials to halt the sealing process on the spot.
In zone 4 limits of the LMC, teams sealed several properties due to continued non-payment of house tax.
These included buildings in Sarasawa, Arjunganj, Bhainsaura, Sarai Sheikh, Lolai, Bharwara, Chinhat Bazaar, Vastu Khand, Eldeco Green, and Badshah Nagar.
In some cases, defaulters made partial payments during the drive, while properties with no payment history were sealed immediately.
Authorities also froze the bank account of a private educational institution located in the Sarasawa area after it failed to deposit house tax dues exceeding Rs 46 lakh for an extended period.
LMC enforcement teams sealed 13 residential houses in areas including Phoolbagh Colony, Vikas Nagar Sector-6, Kamta, and nearby localities. The combined outstanding dues in these cases stood at nearly Rs 11 lakh.
Officials stated that similar drives would continue and urged property owners to clear dues voluntarily to avoid strict action....
