Lucknow, Feb. 5 -- To make public libraries more useful, accessible and effective, a review meeting of the Central State Library and district librarians was held at the Directorate of Education camp office on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, additional chief secretary, Secondary and Basic Education. Sen Sharma presented a roadmap to strengthen reading culture across the state and directed libraries to coordinate closely with teachers of basic and secondary schools so that educators actively engage with libraries and motivate students to read. Innovative libraries showcased their best practices and achievements through presentations. The ACS instructed that successful models be adopted and implemented across all districts. He emphasised that libraries should evolve from book repositories into multi-dimensional knowledge centres catering to educational, intellectual and digital needs.
