Letter-petition in HC seeks CBIprobe, suspension of officials
Prayagraj, Jan. 29 -- A letter petition has been filed before the Allahabad high court seeking a CBI probe into the Mauni Amavasya incident at the Magh Mela during which Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, along with his disciples, was stopped from proceeding in a palanquin for a holy dip at the Sangam on January 18.
The letter petition filed by advocate Gaurav Dwivedi has also sought the suspension of key officials, including the Prayagraj commissioner, district magistrate and Mela Adhikari. The petitioner has also made a prayer for the appointment of new officers in their place.
A further prayer to register an FIR in connection with the entire episode has also been made.
