LUCKNOW, March 20 -- A 30-year-old man was beaten to death with wooden planks by his in-laws in Lucknow's Ashiana area after they allegedly tied up his wife to prevent her from intervening, leaving their two-year-old child crying. This exposed a chillingly pre-planned murder rooted in resentment over a love marriage four years ago. Police said, on Tuesday, the accused family first overpowered Sakshi Singh, wife of the victim Vishnu Yadav, binding her hands, legs and mouth before locking her in a room. "With the only immediate witness neutralised, the family allegedly turned on Vishnu," said DCP Central Vikrant Vir. The DCP said Vishnu was repeatedly assaulted with heavy wooden cot legs. "The blows were primarily aimed at his head and upper body, causing multiple grievous injuries. The intensity of the attack is evident from blood splatter across the room and the recovery of several blood-stained wooden pieces with strands of hair stuck to them," the DCP added. Police reached the house on March 17 following a Dial-112 alert and found Vishnu's body lying on the floor. "Sakshi was discovered bound and injured in another room. In her statement, she accused her father, mother and sisters of carrying out the assault," read details shared by Ashiana police. The accused have been identified as Teerth Raj Singh, 55, son of Sokharam Singh; his wife Saroj Devi, 52; and their four daughters-Radha Singh, 30, Ratna Singh, 23, Jyoti Singh, 20, and Vidhi Singh, 18-all residents of Sector I, Ashiana in Lucknow. Police have also booked them under 103(2)/115(2)/ 352/351(3) BNS. "Six members of the woman's family, including her parents, have been arrested and sent to judicial custody," said SHO Ashiana Kshatrapal Singh. htc...
