Lucknow, March 21 -- The Department of Paediatric Surgery at King George's Medical University (KGMU) performed its second robotic surgery on a 7-year-old boy with a left inguinal hernia. The patient, Shreyansh Yadav from Krishna Nagar, had been taken to multiple hospitals earlier. With advanced facilities unavailable and conventional surgery proving costly, family turned to KGMU, according to a press release issued on Friday. The child was admitted on March 10 and underwent robotic surgery on March 16. Doctors said the procedure resulted in less post-operative pain and quicker recovery. The child was discharged on March 18. The surgery cost around Rs.60,000, offering relief to family. The surgical team included Prof J D Rawat, Prof Anand Pandey, Dr Gurmeet Singh, Dr Manish Rajput and Dr Amol Agarwal.
