kedarnath dham rawal announces his successor
Mussoorie, Feb. 15 -- Shivacharya Kedar Ling (42) has been named the 325th Rawal of Kedarnath Dham by the current Rawal, Bhimashankar Ling, at his math in Nanded, temple priests of the Shri Kedar Sabha said on Saturday.
Rajkumar Tiwari, president of the Shri Kedar Sabha, said, "The current Rawal, Bhimashankar Ling (70), citing his declining health and inability to continue the rigorous duties associated with the 11th Jyotirlinga at Kedarnath, has declared Shivacharya Shanti Ling - who will be known as Kedar Ling - as his successor to carry forward the ancient traditions of the Himalayan shrine. The whole process of transition will begin after the closure of the portals of Kedarnath this year."
However, Hemant Dwivedi, president of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), said, "As of now, any such naming of the successor of the Rawal at Kedarnath is not in my knowledge. Since BKTC is the organisation responsible for appointing the Rawal at Kedarnath and Badrinath, due process will be followed and only then will any final name be declared."...
