Kaushambi woman intoxicated and sexually assaulted; FIR lodged
PRAYAGRAJ, April 29 -- A woman has accused a relative of raping her after rendering her unconscious and later threatening her with a video of the incident in an alleged case of sexual assault and blackmail in the Karari area of Kaushambi district.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly administered an intoxicating substance to the woman during a visit to her home around two years ago. When she lost consciousness, he reportedly sexually assaulted her and recorded the act on video. The accused is then said to have used the footage to repeatedly blackmail and exploit the victim.
The woman in her complaint said that the accused, from Andhawan village under the Paschim Sharira police station limits, continued to harass her over time. Most recently, on April 23, he allegedly visited her home again and assaulted her. On April 26, he demanded Rs.10,000 and, upon refusal, reportedly assaulted the woman and her children. He fled the scene after locals began to gather in response to the commotion.
After this incident, the woman submitted a written complaint to the police. On late Monday evening, after receiving the complaint, the police registered a case. "Based on the married woman's complaint, a case has been registered under relevant sections. The investigating officer has been instructed to conduct an impartial investigation and take action against the accused. The victim's medical examination and statement are being recorded," said Shivank Singh, CO (Manjhanpur).
A case of alleged fraud and death threats has been reported in the Kareli area of Prayagraj, where a man was allegedly cheated of Rs.25 lakh on the pretext of buying flats and then threatened when he asked for a refund.
The complainant, Taufiq Ahmad Siddiqui, a resident of Naya Purwa, Kareli, stated that two individuals-Azam Khan from Civil Lines and Jameel Ahmad alias Farhan from Kareli-offered to sell him flats in the GTB Nagar area. The accused allegedly presented a forged sanctioned map from the housing development authority as proof of the project's official approval.
Siddiqui paid an advance of Rs.25 lakh for two flats and one office space. However, construction had not started 17 months later. When Siddiqui demanded a refund, the accused allegedly threatened him with severe consequences, claiming connections to the gang of slain gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad.
Police at Kareli station have registered a case against both accused and initiated an investigation. Station House Officer Ashish Singh confirmed that a probe is underway, and further action will be taken based on the findings....
