Kashmiri dry fruit sellers 'harassed', viral video shows
LUCKNOW, Jan. 20 -- A video purportedly showing the harassment of some Kashmiri vendors selling dry fruits on Old Jail Road in Lucknow has gone viral on social media, triggering outrage among users.
In the undated video, three to four men are purportedly seen asking the Kashmiri vendors to leave the spot while engaging in a heated argument.
The men are also heard pressuring the vendors to declare themselves "Hindustani" on camera.
"Hum seena thok ke kehte hain Hindustani hain, tum bhi bolo (We proudly declare that we are Indians, you say it too)," one of the men is heard saying in the viral video.
In response, one of the Kashmiri vendors is seen replying, "Haan, hum hain, seena thok ke kehte hain Hindustani hain. Aur yeh waise bhi keh sakte hain, video mein kyun kahe (Yes, we are, and we proudly declare that we are Indians. We can say this anyway, why say it on video?)".
One of the men was also heard saying "le jao varna gaadi se uthwa lenge (take it away, otherwise, we will get it picked using a vehicle).
Police said they have taken cognisance of the viral clip. "Alambagh police station has taken cognisance of the case and an investigation is underway. Necessary legal action will be taken following the investigation," a police statement said. Officials said efforts were on to identify those seen in the video....
